GET UP EARLY AND CHASE THE SUNRISE Start your morning nice and early with a delicious breakfast at H's Cafe, CT4 6SA, that's open every day of the week! Starting at Kent Motorcycles, Take the A2 towards Thanington and join the A28 (Ashford Road) leading to Milton Manor Road. If you fancy an autumnal walk through the trees to see the changing colours of the leaves, stop off at Larkey Valley Woods on Cockering Rd, Canterbury. To re-join the route, follow Shalsford Street to join the A28 again. Take a left on to The Street to join Olantigh Road which cuts through the countryside. You will end up in Wye, where you can visit the Kent Downs to see breathtaking views of the countryside. There's also a nature reserve & plenty of places to eat! Head down towards the A20 (Hythe Road) & take a mix of winding roads and village streets towards Rye, where there are some fantastic pubs to grab a drink. If Rye doesn't take your fancy, ride on to Lydd & stop off at the historical Denge Sound Mirrors. You could also head towards Dungeness. Take the coastal path towards St Mary's Bay, Dymchurch &Hythe to ride along the coast & join the motorway, or head for Blackhouse Hill for some better views. Don't get wet Keep the rain at bay For riders who don't let the wet weather put them off, it is important to wear decent and reliable waterproof gear. This can come in the form of textile waterproof protective jackets which are often very versatile, or plastic mac-style overlayers that conveniently pack away. Beware of the cold Stay warm and toasty Wrapping up warm in the colder months is essential so you can stay focussed on the road and the hazards ahead. Don't go creating another one to distract you... Thermals and base layers really help to keep your core body temperature up. Watch the road Look where you want to go The autumn brings all sorts of weather, bringing different hazards to the roads such as debris, foliageand slippery diesel spills that hide under puddles. Take extra care and always look toward the vanishing point to ensure you have time to prepare for an approaching hazard. Don't get a flat Check your battery and tyres If your motorcycle will be sat stationary for a long period of time, your battery and tyres could go flat, whether it is storedin a garage or on your drive. In August 2017, the first event kicked off and was a roaring success, raising over 10,000 for charity.
