Dan Linfoot secured the fourth fastest time on board his Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade in today’s qualifying sessions at Thruxon, for the seventh round of the MCE British Superbike championship.
In near-perfect conditions at the 3.791km Hampshire circuit Linfoot had a solid qualifying, progressing through each stage and securing the fourth fastest time. The 27-year-old will start tomorrow’s first Superbike race from the second row of the grid.
Unfortunately team-mate Jason O’Halloran who had been running well in the qualifying sessions, finishing Q1 second fastest, was involved in an incident at Noble in Q2, which is under investigation by the race direction.
O’Halloran was assessed at the circuit and has a broken right femur and also damage to his left hand. The Australian has been taken to hospital where he will be assessed further.
Honda’s third rider Jenny Tinmouth was disappointed not to progress into the afternoon’s qualifying sessions, despite encouraging lap times at the Hampshire circuit on-board her CBR. Tinmouth will start tomorrow’s first race 32nd.
The two 20-lap British Superbike races take place tomorrow (Sunday 2 August) with race one at 1330 and race two at 1630.

"After qualifying we’re in fourth place, so really happy about that! We made some good changes, for the sessions and I found a lot more confidence with the CBR, so that’s a good step forward. I also did my fastest ever lap here at Thruxton in Q3, so really pleased with that. We have two strong races tomorrow and I hope to deliver some fighting spirit and do the Fireblade proud.
Obviously my thoughts and the whole team’s are with Jason after being involved in an incident, through no fault of his own and ending with an injury. My first thoughts at the moment are with Jason, I’ve been through an injury this year and hope that he can make a strong recovery." - Dan Linfoot
